(Prose only.)

OVERRATED: What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, probably. (It was in that stupid film, for a start.)

UNDERRATED: Everything Stuck To Him deserves more love.

BEST: Hard. Cathedral, maybe, but it’s primus inter pares.

WORST: I don't like this meanspirited worstnaming. If you’re going to point a gun at my head, I guess I found Errand a fairly unrewarding slog.

From what I've heard, Raymond Carver's work was dogshit before his editor improved it. Basically gave him the style he's known for. There are also editions with his unedited and edited works and the difference is there.

Hey what if the narrator's life was falling apart because he was a raging alcoholic?

What's his best collection?

Hard mode Whats his best individual story?

Also, I feel like he occupies a strange space in American literature, because his work is perfect, perfect, for high school analysis, and yet, I've never met a person who read him at that stage. Entry level writing courses in college, sure, but not for advanced study. I'm just curious because I don't know why that is.

I just started reading him and I'm liking it but I got questions that need answers. Is he a plotlet or is he plot-cucking me?

Raymond Carver general I guess

Why does nobody talk about this guy? He was pretty good.

The car rolled up to the plane and three men stepped out.

You don't get to bring friends, CIA said.

They work for the mercenary, said one man.

Bane?

Aboard, one of the men didn't fly so good.

Maybe he wonders why you would shoot him before throwing him out of a plane, a masked man said.

Bane?

CIA looked him in the eye.

If I took that mask off, would you die?

It would hurt, Bane said.

What's the next part of your plan?

Crashing this plane, Bane said. Another craft came into view out the window.

The conversation ended then, more abruptly than it had started.
