Several stories from the Metamorphoses, the one that comes to mind immediately is the story of Narcissus and Echo
The Romance of The Three Kingdoms, that Kongming death.
Outlaws of The Marsh, it's built on its amazing cast of characters. The one that always stands out in my mind is Sagacious Lu (also awesome death).
The Bell Jar, most realistic representation of depression in literature, and Esther Greenwood is a big part of that.
