My theory of art is that consciousness creates a feeling of separation from the world that can only be alleviated by objectifying yourself through an artistic medium. How’d this Cagot poet do it so well? He basically accomplished all poetic mastery before he left school then dumped writing after a string of scandals and revelry, never to be seen again.

What is the best English translation? I understand his style doesn’t translate well to be fully appreciated, but my French isn’t that great and I have no desire to better it. Part of me actually thinks his letters or a biography would be better as he interests me more as a person
