It's a meme that Tolkien is hard to read and I think this has come from the fact that LoTR has been so very popular since it was released that it attracted a lot of people who would never normally read fantasy or read at all, and this has only increased since the films were released. Tolkien's prose is absolutely gorgeous, to me his books are like a nourishment for the soul. I hope you enjoy reading anon.
