/lit/ - Literature

So I read this today, and to be perfectly honest, I'm a little unsatisfied. While I do appreciate that it didn't pull the BAWW OUTSIDER as a major drama, I also feel like there wasn't a lot of overall conflict. Cox made a pretty solid antagonist, but wasn't around long enough to have much impact. I also felt like the 'god cave' was a rather cop-outtish deus ex machina. (pardon the pun.) Mau and Ermentrude were also much more interesting characters toward the beginning than toward the end, I feel.

Has anyone else read this? What are /lit/'s opinions on the book?

I haven't read that many that have come out in the last three years, though.
