Well maybe not necessarily improve, but in my estimation, the greatest literature is that which edifies and moves the reader, and that kind of engagement is why it should be free.
Not to mention these obvious correlations:

Based on this rhetoric it is reasonable to blame in part the zoomers, who are shallow and highly normative, on the downfall of what was our little secret.
