The growth of New Atheism wasn't because it was "edgy", anyone wanting to be a contrarian could pick from a lot more controversial positions, it just presented what would appear a logical world outlook that could be easily grasped unto. How do you want to interpret the growth of Petersonianism? Is it just edgy or maybe it could just have something to do with late-stage capitalism and the way youtube algorithms work.

His entire interpretation of Nietzsche as some sort of classical liberal emotionally invested in Christendom afraid of the loss of said values instead of just an edgelord interested exactly in transvaluating those exact values. It's not so much that in 1818 humanity was better off than today or not but that the magnitude of lost opportunities is much more immense today and why that's so [global liberal institutions such as the IMF, World Bank, etc]. Ignorance is managed today more effectively on a scale that wasn't possible historically.
