I love fantastic science... gone wrong! Things like tears in spacetime, dimensional gates, incredible plagues that cause fantastic mutations. Furthermore, I like when those books actually focus more on the science aspect of things, with the main characters finding more and more about what they are fighting, instead of just struggling to fight against it.

Any recomendations?

I'm hoping to jog my memory of a particular term that describes the feeling of loss towards something that doesn't exist. I'm grasping at something like "loss in absence", ambiguous absence or imaginary loss. It exemplifies the absence of a father in the wiki entry the term describes (which I fail to recall). Anybody have any ideas?

Don't worry. Most of /lit/ is composed of middle-level undergrad English students -- people who still don't understand how the world works just yet.

Are there any examples of 'humanity fuck yeah' stories that aren't just overly-idealistic Humanity propaganda?
