I have been chain-reading Houellebecq lately and Platform got me shook senpai. This feels stupid but it made me want to live more. It also deepened my hatred for Islam, which is a good thing. Tell me how Houellebecq changed your life, please.

just finished this - wow. what a tour de force! are all his books this good, this intelligent, well-written, well-characterized, compelling, dark, sexual, political, and violent, or is this is masterpiece?

I read Submission last year, and I loved it.

So I picked up Platform, and I was enjoying it at first. It was like a toned down In the Miso Soup, with that fantastic satire I'd also loved in Submission. And then they were back in France, and little by little the novel was making me the happiest man on earth.

And then the last few chapters hit like a shotgun slug. This novel is fantastic.

I did shed a couple tears, fuck. Submission had a very happy if very satirical end. I wasn't expecting this.

MC started as a drab, blank slate. He then started gradually feeling. Feeling unbridled love and growing happiness. Lastly, absolute despair at her loss. Fuck.

I felt it. It hurts. But it was great.

I was about to end it all after reading this.
