If you weren't a degenerate and read with any depth you'd see that McCarthy was talking about historical forces and
the way we interpret and understand history (including history of ideas), not just bloody and shocking scenes written in purple prose.

It should be read as Western legend for the times Americans hunted Indian scalps (hell it's even based on an autobiography); a story akin to the older epics or thr myths.

Seriously if you hate McCarthy you must still acknowedge that Blood Meridian is a cornerstone of American literature; the fact it was written in the age of post-modernism and not modernism may have caused its classic status to be underwhelming but it still deserves due praise.

At one point I was pretty sad about shit too but then I read the Brothers K and realized how big of a fagget Ivan was; I realized that I was just like him, and since then I changed me degree to something I enjoyed, started taking care of myself, and cleansed my mind of all guilt and remorse I had accumulated in the past.

Seriously OP most importantly be honest with yourself and your depression. You cant base your happiness in life on the results of it, you have to strive to find solace in your existance. Make peace with yourself and then you can make peace with the world.

Im doing my first year in an english degree at a mediocre uni, if I do good can i complete a M or PhD at a good one? I feel like if i graduate with an english degree here ill amount to nothing. Also is establishing relarions with your profs really that worth it?
