I think the idea of communism as a teleological end-state of human history is wrong, that is more of a secularized form of Christianity I think, but capitalism being doomed at some level is probably true. Like the idea that this is the end stage of human history? It's just like mercantilism or feudalism. Better to keep the historical and dialectical materialism but dump the Messianism for communism as an intuitive ideal IMO

Communism isn't switched on, neither is socialism and no amount of phrasemongering will make it happen. But if you understand socialism and communism to be nothing but the movement towards negation of the current state of things, the western countries are heading that way too, most are just not politically conscious of this.
