Unironically: get help. Mental illness is treatable.

A fucking monkey could get an undergrad degree in lit or phil at any college or university in America.

Show up for class. Turn in assignments. Do the readings. It's not even a lot of effort.

Also, St. John's is an expensive private school. They need your money. They lust after it. They will do everything in their power to make sure you are able to attend all five years.

Average over my lifetime (I'm old) is something like 30 books a year. Most novels take 10 hours or less to read, so a book a week is not even two hours a day.

Read consistently and you'll soon be one of the most well-read people you know.

And don't forget to read contemporary works (published in last 3-5 years) or you'll end up like the fucksticks here, constantly re-reading their grandfathers book collection, wondering how the world became so out of touch and shouting phillistine at the clouds.

Would we still be reading Plato today without capitalism to keep him alive?

You're soaking in it

Zeno's paradox is only interesting if you're debating whether movement can exist. For the rest of us, it's retarded.

After two millennia of scientific advances, most of Greek philosophy is irrelevant in the quest to expand human knowledge. It's useful if you want to understand Greek philosophy and not much else.

For the most part, it really doesn't matter.

However... if you look at published books in the genre you're writing in, you can get a vague idea. I'm writing a middle-grade historical novel and I planned my chapters to be about 2500 words long. It would take someone in my target audience approx 15 minutes to read a chapter.

Chapters can influence pacing, suspence, and structure. Use the chapter. Don't let it use you.
