the politics of surrealism and the discordian order particularly stuck with me. the novel concludes somewhat unsatisfyingly. after a madcap climax it settles down into banalities of order and balance and almost the very tepid liberalism everything that comes before seems to be trying to shatter. maybe that's the authors burning out, maybe that's as far as knowledge can really go, maybe that's the way of the world but it's no fun at all.
