Does it have to be shit?

Yes I am asking this because I'm a pleb reader, but what does /lit/ think of John Green?

I'm gonna assume that /lit/ doesn't like him or his books?

People I know always recommend this guy's books to me and they seem to have good reviews on Amazon (if that's worth anything), but they sound like they'd be shitty if you were over the age of 14. Plus I'm a bit biased because I've never seen the appeal in the vlogbrothers.

So what's the general consensus about John Green's books?

OP, here.

My experience looking for other stuff has been the same as yours. I rarely find courses that have lectures about novels, and the courses I have tried to watch from iTunesU are usually pretty unsatisfying.

I will confess that John Green's videos about literature on crashcourse are pretty nice to watch, though yet to talk about anything wasn't assigned to me in high school (other than Romeo & Juliet), which is hardly a surprise.
