The majority of my collection has come from Goodwill (a popular chain thrift store for our non-American friends). Prices may vary from area to area, but where I am, all paperbacks are a dollar and all hardbacks are $2.50. It's really fun going in and searching through their shelves and by chance stumbling upon something you wanted to read or something that looks interesting enough to gamble a dollar on.

For when I want something specific, there are two websites I use. Thriftbooks is good because it's relatively cheap compared to most other websites and especially compared to brick and mortar stores. A ton of their books are only $4 and their selection is gigantic, with tons of variants of each book to choose from. The other is a seller on Ebay that I buy from a lot, I don't want to sound too shill-y so I won't specify which one, but I'm sure there are several that will fit the description. Huge selection but not as big as thriftbooks, and lacks the ability to pick which version of the book you want (often times the stock thumbnail doesn't match the actual printing you get). Most books are priced at around $3.50-4, but they have a buy-3-get-1 deal, so the actual cost per book ends up being around $3, which beats thriftbooks.

Where do you buy your books?

There are already so many books written, that one couldn't read them all in 50 lifetimes.
What's the point of making new ones?
