I don't understand why almost everybody on this board are such elitists. Seriously, you read. Congratulations, that doesn't make you some genius demi-god. It makes you a normal fucking person, maybe with a slightly above average IQ, who knows. Then comes the infighting, calling each other stupid, trying so desperatley to prove that you're smarter than the next guy, when in the end you know it's all about who's dick is bigger.

Get off your high horses, seriously. Reading/writing doesn't suddenly make you some brilliant artist. It makes you a reader and a writer.

Gentlemen.

I want to become more cultured, and thus fill my growing library of books with timeless classics that any upstanding gentleman should have read at least once.

My favourite genre is currently fantasy and science fiction, and I'd like to broaden my perspective a bit. Classics of these genres are also appreciated.
