Hey lit I am interested in reading some of Thoreau's work and was wondering If there is any particular pre reading or order to progress in or whether I can just jump into Walden?

What, in your opinion /lit/, defines good poetry and/or writing prose?

Well, I'd say this thread has been quite Thoreau.

Would someone like to discuss "Civil Disobedience" with me? I don't mind waiting a few minutes while you read it.
I wrote a paper on it this morning would like somebody's opinion of my analysis.
I'd post my essay, but I don't want it to end up on some free or paid essay site and then get expelled for plagiarism.

Scenario:
The last author, poet, or philosopher that you read now has an internet blog - Tumblr, Facebook page, etc. - and is an insufferable, stereotypical teenager. What do they talk about, and how?

my grandfather once told me something about dantes inferno when I was young. I cant remember what it was now, but something about somebody traded something (or somebody) for some sort of power. What does this refer to?
