Does anyone have a chart like this but for the poetry written in French? I know some prominent poets but I’d like to read them in a rather appropriate order, which would make me ready for the more demanding ones. Don’t bother with the translations. I’ll read them in French anyway.

Honestly just read lots of poems and try to understand what you like.

Start with some of the following to see what you like:

>Philip Larkin
>William Carlos Williams
>Lord Byron
>W.B. Yeats
>Billy Collins
>W.H. Auden
>Sylvia Plath
>T.S. Elliot
>E.E. Cummings

You're bound to find a couple of poems you enjoy from at least one of these. Read some articles on Poetry Foundation too and just follow your interests from there. Pic related is also not a terrible guide but should be disregarded immediately once you find something that intrigues you.

I'm finishing Moby Dick up here soon, which I've enjoyed tremendously, but after a couple more books my list of "shit to read" is going to be exhausted. I'm excited to read some Mark Twain next though, then my list is empty (was, at least).
