hi! i'm new to /lit/ and wanted to talk about Convenience Store Woman. spoilers for the attached.

i just finished Convenience Store Woman, and i really liked it. it's just funny. an autistic woman moves in with an incel and tries to understand her society. even though the lack of arc is deliberate i really wished Keiko grew, or even that Shiraha changed a little bit. i think that's kinda innate, that we want people to grow, like everyone wants Keiko to, but she doesn't and Shiraha doesn't because that's the point; some people do, some don't, for Keiko she isn't hurting anyone but for Shiraha he is. life goes on.

i read this in between reading Breasts and Eggs, which I still have to finish (Meiko Kawakami has aged celestially btw), and I enjoyed it.

Hey /lit/ can you suggest some books for my grandmother? Recently she has been wanting to try and read more so I gave her (pic related) but she's about half way though it now and I don't know what to suggest for her next.

My grandmother has had many strokes throughout her life so it's a little difficult for her to read anything dense. This book was very good because the text is larger than normal and the prose was really simple, so thats the main requirement.

She particularly liked this book because of it's themes on how woman and men are more or less assigned roles in life via societal pressures, so similar themes would be great!

Nothing with tragic endings or heavy philosophical as stress can trigger her epilepsy.

Thank you!
