To be fair and...perhaps only a bit idealistic- studying philosophy does teach you how to LEARN. It means you'll catch up pretty quick on any job outside of your (I hope not useless) field. At least that's what our profs keep telling us about the dropouts, lel

Still, we still have a bit of "philosophical" subjects in our high school education out here (glorious ex-socialist continental tradition) so I can always get a job teaching subjects like Ethics, Philosophy or Logic.So it isn't exactly hopeless. But you do have a point. No point in having a profound understanding of Being when you can't afford to...be.
