The Canterbury Tales is absolute dogshit, and it was dogshit even for its time.

"whOOah, let's have 50 gorillion characters and make crappy stories for almost all of them, now ain't that wacky????". How can anglos be this fucking retarded to think this would result in any meaningful, profound, or enjoyable piece of literature? Chaucer didn't even know what audience he was writing this for, but if this were to be written by someone today, I would just assume it was written by some generic Deviantart lolcow who makes several pages for their "original characters".
