Not a great book, but it makes some play of having various locations, and one character, work as encapsulations of a city. The Central station is a nexus that represents everything, the government's building is connected to everything, then there's a character who's literally a chimera of different fantasy races.

Jesus Christ, can this guy go one page without an overwrought metaphor or description of a character farting/shitting? I'm only 5 chapters in and it's getting on my nerves

At first I thought it was steampunk, but the more I read about it just made me more confused. The description at the bookstore underlined NOT STEAMPUNK.

I just started reading though and the third section of text is literally about slowly breaking to the reader that the character is in a sexual relationship with a bug creature with fucking mandibles.

What am I in for here?

I disliked this book all the way through but then it had a great last sentence. Now I don't know what to make of it.

Anyone care to argue for it or against?
