Quantifying this? Fuck. Now my mind turns to the increasing Quantization of everything. People reduced to numbers. The hegemony of the Actuarial class. You might think this is a symptom of the 'digital' age and the computerization of things. However it has been slowly seeping in since the days of Ancient Sumer. Pretty much when symbols and writing was invented. It's a happy expatiation that these symbols which used to record bushels and ingots, debts, credit and usury have been repurposed for literature. But it was the beginning of the end. We are becoming numerical, digitized, quantized. We speak about "productivity" in our personal life. We rate our looks on a ordinal scale out of 10 against how many feet and inches tall we are.
The writing revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
