And this is of course why every communist state that has ever existed has attempted to systematically destroy religious institutions and enforce state atheism, why leftists and SJW's are atheistic and anti-religion, while right-wingers are religious and pro-religion.

I'm sorry but do people actually say "and but so", and I have only just started noticing it after reading Infinite Jest, or is you saying it just a symptom of YOU reading Infinite Jest and that "and but so" has no real meaning.

I just need to know if I can say "and but so" in conversation and have it understood.

I'll leave the thread up a while longer in case anyone else knows of other good databases- but this is all I really needed.

Think about it....

I have a really hard time settling down and reading intensively.

Do you haev any tips? Every time I try to read non-fiction I have to close the book after just a couple of minutes because I feel too "upset" to truely concentrate on the content.

What is it called when you get a book in two languages side by side of the same text?

Like, Ancient greek/french/russian on one side, and the english translation on the other?

Looking for resources on the study of literature, ie how to deconstruct a novel, how to discuss it, how to find the main elements, ideas, themes of the novel.

I've recently taken up reading again and haven't done much since high school. I'd like to be able to have an intelligent discussion with people about a book, but don't know where to start.

Looking for some free courses or docs online.

Hey /lit/,

I normally don't come here very often but think you guys might be able to help me out.
I'm Dutch and currently writing an English essay, in Dutch we have this saying/synonym for "continuing on previous success" (with the purpose of not taking risks, instead of being original, so basically in a negative way of saying).

Should be something in the lines of: using something that worked before just to be safe.

Preferably in a funny context but existant, if i would've wanted to make something up i'd go with riding on a worn out donkey but it needs to look somewhat professional aswell.

Thanks in advance.
