I checked out the /lit/ sticky looking for some good fantasy and read the "First Law" series by Jon Ambercrombie. I have no idea why it's on there, because it's pretty goddamn awful. I'd thought about just looking up series randomly if something of that quality was on the list. I decided to humor the list one more time and checked out Patrick Rothfuss' "Name of the Wind."

And now after having blazed through that and "A Wise Man's Fear," I'm honestly shocked. That was one of the most in-depth, well-written fantasy I've ever come across. I'm terrified about the author having said that Kvothe's story will end by the next book, because there's just so much more fleshing out that could be done for this world. I'm excited and yet also depressed that it's so close to being over.

Is there anything else in the sticky that's anything like this? I love having an in-depth magic system, and the descriptive tone he takes along with the mythology, language, and setting is just deep enough to be mysterious while also concise and to-the-point.
