This is easy to read; you could probably get through it pretty quickly if you applied yourself.

What are essential books to into buddhism?
I'm starting here, but I wanna learn more.

I'd like to get a book for my cousin as a Christmas gift this year. She's 7 but is fairly behind in school, she probably reads at like a kindergarten-1st grade level. Her parents aren't exactly "intellectual" types or into reading at all really, so I feel as though I'm put in a position where I maybe have the power to impart some good influence upon her, or to help guide her on a good path. There are numerous books I've read and thought, "if I have a kid he's definitely reading this shit," like pic related, Brave New World, A Wrinkle in Time, etc... but all of these are far too advanced for her at the moment, and are really all that are coming to mind.

So I'd like to get a book that will sort of push her forward in her reading abilities, make her see the beauty of reading, of storytelling, and that has some kind of "good message" for lack of a better phrase.

Any recommendations? Much appreciated!

It was shallow and I didn't like that the protagonist has lots of sex.

Just finished this book and I thought it was incredible. The stuff at the end with the ferryman at the river was top shit.

Just read Siddhartha. It was pretty good. The only thing that confused me was whether Hesse's philosophy is the same as or is different from Buddhism.
