Why do Christians keep saying the Quran is a collection of existing spiritual tales and at the same time deny that the old testament and new testament are a collection of tales which existed in previous cultures?

I have suffered from - and still do, perhaps - the same issue for the past three years (before then I had lived in an unconscious, zombie-like state). Now that I have some degree of sentience or lucidity, I can reflect back on how I had sleepwalked through my prior life, and how my current life still bears some great damage. That damage would be, as I wrote before, the same issue which you suffer from - that is, the inability to focus. This is, as best as I can see, the entirety of the symptomology of the issue. A lack of focus prevents one from extracting information from a text, much in the same way watching a scratched DVD is difficult for all the pauses and lost data. Furthermore, a lack of focus prevents one from, once they have any data, thinking about it, as the same cuts and jumps occur in the head. This problem, of course, makes engaging with complex topics an impossibility. Repeating myself, you cannot properly take in data, and you cannot properly think about it once you have it (which you won't have much of in the first place).

Seeing that the entirety of the issue lies in focus, we can then ask ourselves how focus comes into being. I have played with many possible causes, the majority of them being biological. Perhaps it is the dopamine receptors in your brain, or a lack of testosterone (which makes you fatigued and harder to motivate - perhaps one only needs energy to focus - perhaps one only needs motivation to focus), or a deficit in some vitamin or mineral which causes problems down the line, or maybe it's some other health issue. I will tell you now that I've spent several thousand dollars getting blood tests done and speaking with specialists. None of them helped. I was prescribed adderall - which I am on now, as you can see - but I fear I am becoming tolerant to it, and that it also dampens some undefinable aspect of my soul.

I am not sure where I can help you. Perhaps there is a medical reason for the lack of focus. Perhaps that lies in increasing testosterone or meditating or exercising or reducing your sugar intake. I have tried all of those (except taking testosterone) and have yet to see results comparable to adderall, of which I am becoming tolerant. I hate to say that it may be hopeless, but it really may be. That does not excuse you to not try, but should keep you from getting your hopes up to where they shouldn't be.

There is one other thing, though. Poor focus is a symptom of anxiety. Anxiety, to my knowledge, may even lack traditional symptoms like fear and so on. To be anxious about the health of your mind, a sort of psychological hypochondria, may exacerbate the issues that cause your worry. A sort of vicious cycle. I am not sure how to cure neuroticism, however. Are you a neurotic person? Have you had your testosterone levels checked?
