God... i hate danielewski """"Z"""" (SO edgy to be called Z amirite???) so much, and i hate his orbiters even more than him
i admittedly liked House of Leaves while reading it, not because it was particularly well written or groundbreaking in any way at all, just because it was slightly spooky and the formatting was unique and enjoyable
now, however, we've got people claiming it's, and i quote, "one of the most important books ever written".
we've got pseuds who haven't read a single word of Cervantes, Sterne, Joyce, Pynchon, or even DFW thinking that the """""Z""""" man came up with all these literary techniques used in the novel, and worshipping him as if he's some kind of supergenius godsend, bordering on being a deity himself
we've got reddit acting like """Z""" is the most definitive literary hero of an era
we've got people analyzing The Familiar series as if it's fucking Finnegans Wake, while meanwhile, the fucking thing flopped and the publisher dropped it LMAO
