Reading some of Timothy Leary, Robert Anton Wilson and Christopher Hyatt’s writings about "self-programming" and radical change of personality and behavior, and attempting these through taking LSD and practicing yoga had proved quite fruitful but also brought about much confusion. I'm concerned with questions such as what actually IS the individual if everything is alterable and changing (I know what the Buddhist would say...). I'm also wondering about how one is to deal with life on this plane where things are experienced as separate from each other unlike the state of unity that can be reached through the mystical and psychedelic experience.
I'm looking for books about identity, categorization, recognition or anything else you think might be suiting, doesn't matter what period, can be psychological, philosophical, western or eastern.

If you do, just actually go through with it. Take the vows, attend your local sangha, etc. Don't just say you're Buddhist because you like it and not actually practice.
