What do you do when you find out that your favorite, most wonderful and gifted Lit teacher that made high school worth it, is coming under fire from fundamentalist ignorants hicks in your hometown that are trying to ban such books as The Awakening, Tess of the d' Urbervilles, Beloved, The Things They Carried, and The Catcher in the Rye? What to do? They are making headway! How can this happen? Excerpt from their ridiculous propaganda:

"Do you think their required reading is inappropriately filthy, vulgar, vile, graphic, etc? You are not alone. Many others in our community agree, but alone we cannot make a difference.


So who chooses the required reading for our kids in high school? Our teachers choose. And they have had the full backing of the principal and all the upper administration for years. These are your tax $$$ hard at work, and you have been left without a voice if you have not agreed with them.
