I just started Ivanhoe and this picture is on the cover, which seems to depict Brian de Bois-Guilbert, a Norman Templar. Not to be indelicate but, why is he black? Am I missing something? Aren't the Normans white skinned? Is "the Normans" more like a faction that can be joined? But why, then, does heritage seem to also be so important to so many character
