Thoughts on A Memory Called Empire? Saw it mentioned quite a bit when searching for any fairly recent scifi books to read. Haven't gotten very far, but the way it goes into the language choices and cultures of the involving species is really interesting.

What a complete waste. The best world builders have some very real experience with their inspirations. She has a phd in byzantine history and a 'I googled this and read a short list' in Aztec history and god damn does it show.
I actually would have preferred the typical 'Christianity bad' allegory to this drivel. At least it would be well informed.

Anyone read this?
