jap fantasy still hasn't evolved beyond the 'beautiful, lithe archer elf/stocky axe wielding dwarf' cliches introduced by Tolkien more than half a century ago. The only difference is they sexualized everything because the demographic is composed of thirsty virgins. No seriously, what trope has Japan added to Tolkien lore other than 'orcs rape elves' (which arguably already happened to Celebrian off screen). It's not just that there's cliches in jap fantasy. It's that they seem to relish in it. Like there's bonus points for using stock character templates and conforming exactly to every other anime show.
