I like her because she's a contemporary author whose works don't need some kind of impressionistic waving flag of edge or politics to be relevant, like the Margaret Atwoods and Hanya Yanagiharas and Michel Houellebecqs of the world. Just straight-forward literary fiction, strongly character-focused, some of its is good, some not so much. I found the Goldfinch underwhelming as shit but her other two novels are pretty good, despite not being fantastic or anything.
