Exactly! I mean I guess they had to figure out a way to introduce the audience in the pure ones and how Kludd got involved. But they most certainly could have stuck to the original story.
Also in the books Kludd was the original metal beak because he killed the previous leader of the Pure ones.

If a sequel ends up being made then I think Kludd will take on the role of the new metal beak I suppose. Oh yes it was ridiculously violent in the books but it didn't stop me from reading them. Actually my parent were quite surprised by the violence themselves. The reason they got me the books was because I became very interested in owls when Great Horned owls started to appear in our neighborhood.
