So what happens after identity-based literary criticism? Most books on the history of literary criticism end there or end with "eco-criticism" which doesn't seem particularly rewarding.

Is anything new happening in literary criticism?

I'm not saying theyre worthless just that
I have much less interest in reading books about being black in america or experiencing misogyny.

Again, I havn't read enough books by black people to really have an informed opinion but are you really sure that there's progress being made in our understanding of race? I do watch a lot of oscar bait type movies and most of them really are the same (I did like Moonlight but that wasn't really about racism at all).

Even when I like a piece of art that's very much about racism, like American History X, I like them for reasons other than interesting thoughts about race.

After years of reading NYT opeds and the occaisonal essay by Coates or some other racial thinker I just don't think theres anything else interesting to say.

I'm sure I am biased though as im a white male and I spend too much time on this website.
