to give an example, a fantasy series I was reading recently was Battlemage, it has feminist ideas that shouldn't exist in its time period or setting. One of the main characters, a princess, wonders why women arent dont serve in the army despite being half the population, and that if women were trained like men, then they would be able to keep up with men thus doubling the size of the army.

This completely disregards the fact that if women were in the army, then nobody would be raising or having kids thus destroying your population though. And of course she becomes the queen later.

You might be confusing it with the other book called Battlemage, which was a 2016 David Gemmell Award nominee.
