I constantly hear the kind of hipster faggots that post on /lit/ say shit like "Support the sciences!", "More funding for the sciences!" and other such bullshit, and then cry like little pussies when the government doesn't support the sciences because funding can actually be put in more useful places.

What you don't realize is that the sciences are useless. Medicine isn't a hobby or some vast fountain of knowledge, it's a fun way of learning CPR and how to affix a splint. But knowing how to apply a band-aid is useless to socoiety. Every piece of funding that goes into helping a hospital stay open is a piece of funding that isn't going into academics researching useful information. That's funding that isn't going into helping understand narrative and human expression, things which every successful society ever has valued. Instead, that funding is going into the wallet of you fucking hipsters who think that your psych degree is some kind of great contribution to society.

Fuck the sciences, and every single cent that you fucks want your government to waste on it. Pic related, an example of how you faggots think.

Seems like an obvious question, but when submitting queries, does distance matter?

Is it completely illogical to send a query to a literary agency in California, if I reside in New England?

Pic probably related.
