Post it. I'm always heartened by progress posts although I rarely respond. Got a warm feeling in my heart from >>20750408

As for me I'm at about 48k right now, a little over halfway as I estimate it will be a little over 90k total. I think it's pretty solid overall too, need to add 1 scene and make moderate changes to 2 others.

I also used to outline and have had way better luck/quality since switching to more discovery focused. What helped me is just having a single sentence bullet point per chapter "outline" at the bottom of my document. I maintain a mindset that I'm completely not committed to those bullets though, they're just a set of logical guidestones the plot can aim towards. Usually I flesh out the upcoming 2 chapters in some decent detail after I finish a chapter as well, so I am still outlining somewhat but it's way more iterative/flexible.

My Diary Entry: For anyone that remembers it I'm still chipping away at the Elder Scrolls/Morrowind Era novel that started with the dinner party chapter I shared like 2 months back. At ~30k words and I'd guess a third of the way through.

Still enjoying it and I feel like the best parts are yet to come which is a first experience for me. Just honing the process until it was fun really worked for me and I can't imagine dropping it now, keep chugging gents.

A lot of writing self help is just people shamelessly copying older stuff. I also dislike even using the term "hero", even if you're writing about Superman himself the terminology just feels juvenile. If I hero another pseud ramble on about muh hero's journey and George Lucas I may snap.

Morrowind/Elder Scrolls tie-in fiction anon here again. Just finished my first edit on chapter 3 while on a break and it's a banger- hard to beat the feeling of one coming out right and it wasn't even anything I had plotted out. Hope you gents are plugging away as well, savor those small victories.
