It implores the proletariat to realize that they create value, and therefore have power that they once thought they lacked, and to use it. That is why striking (at least it used to) work. It is not a moral story. It is a power struggle. It is amoral, it is appealing to the personal ego of the proletariat to recognize that he has worth.
