The sequels never grabbed me, and so I never bothered to read them, but man does Starfish have a fucking mood that develops nicely. It's much better than Watt's other stuff, and a very easy recommendation for anyone into SciFi.

At the very least Blindsight should be on, if not that and Starfish.

Hey there, /g/.

I was reading Maelstrom and it got me thinking: there are psychopaths in the world, and evidently those psychopaths are adept at manipulating the emotions of their peers for personal gain.

So let's say we were going to eliminate the issue of psychopathic victimization - in your opinion, to level the playing field would it be preferable to do this either by making everyone a psychopath who isn't already or by eliminating the psychopaths that already exist?

It's fantastic. Go ahead and read it.
And once you're done with that, go read Echopraxia.
And once you're done with that, go read the Rifters trilogy.
And once you're done with those, go read The Island and Ambassador.
And once you're done with those, go read the rest of his short works.
