Yeah because if you are overweight and have facial hair you can't write.

Enjoy the Count of Monte Cristo asshole.

Are there serious literature classes where you study the Count of Monte Cristo?

I feel bad for you, /lit/.

I come on here, and the first thing I see is that over half the threads on the front page are either troll threads or not literature threads.

So how about a thread about the most entertaining writer of the 19th century?

What is generally regarded as the best translation of The Count of Monte Cristo? A little googling tells me the Buss translation but I also want to hear /lit/'s opinion on the matter.

Writing productivity tips. How did Alexandre Dumas and Balzac become such prolific writers?

Does anyone else here enjoy reading stuff by Alexandre Dumas?

I know that the /lit/erati rate Count of Monte Cristo highly, and it's an awesome, awesome book that has everything, treasure islands, badass main character, lesbians and a whizz-bang tour of 19th Century Europe.

But his other stuff like The Three Musketeers and its sequels are gripping, unputdownable reads as well. I need to read the 'fourth' book in the series, then I've read the whole of the D'Artagnan Romances.

Apparently The Black Tulip is good too, but I don't know if anyone here will have read it. What are your thoughts, /lit/?
