I can trace my lineage back to the founding of Jamestown in 1607. I speak an American dialect of English, I was born into an American protestant denomination. I've lived in America all my life, not once have I stepped off of the contiguous 48 states. I have an unmistakably white American name. I eat almost exclusively American food. I could not imagine myself being comfortable in any other country.
Yet I do not feel American. I'm ashamed to call myself American. Neither do I identify with any American regional nationality that may describe me, such as "Texan" or "Southerner". I'm supposed to be an American, but this country doesn't want me. I don't think I want it anymore, either. The America today is not the America I was born into. I should have a connection to this country, I should want to keep it alive, but now I honestly wouldn't mind if it just vanished. I may suffer a bit in any breakup of this country, but I don't think my life would seriously change that much. At the same time, my ancestors put their blood, sweat, and tears into this land. I owe it to them to keep this country and their legacy alive. Without America, my pedigree has no meaning. But perhaps, if they were alive, they would feel the same as me.

There is an exception to be made for this board in particular, but if you don't want to post images why are you using an imageboard website? This is a place where you can share the pictures you made and the pictures you saved. The best memories I've had on this website came from pictures that other anons posted. You may be familiar with the "Mongolian basket-weaving forum" meme and it's variants, but people tend to forget that this is literally a Japanese animation imageboard. Of course, not all boards are about anime, but image-sharing was always core part of this website.
