need some cheering up. I'm looking for sci-fi/adventure/fantasy recommendations with decent romance and sex AND happily ever after/lots of babies/etc. Im not looking for the hero riding off into the sunset or tragic endings.

Is there any room for pulp sci fi these days? Does it need to grow up in a any way? Has it already?

I'm planing a serious space opera that's a hybrid of Space Battleship Yamato and Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 but for now I'm writing a different thing to exercise my skills.

I'm going to start writing a series of short stories that are homages to classic pulp sci-fi tales about spacemen fight'n aliens, space pirates and saving bikini girls. The main character is a young Space Patrol Officer whose followed by a cowboy robot and cat with telekinesis. On his second adventure he saves a girl from dangerous space men and joins his rag tag team.

It'd kinda be like fallout in writing and I want to have fun with the weapons particularly.

Isn't reading genre fiction alongside "proper fiction better than watching TV or playing video games alongside proper literature? I don't know why this board is so averse towards it.
