Utilitarianism is the future and you know it. How are you going to not be a utilitarian when all our lives will be connected?

No. What is so interesting about going into space? Earth is by far the most interesting planet in this solar system. Also, it speaks for itself that we need to figure shit out here first before we spend everything we have on useless, symbolic conquering of new frontiers.

Modern technological ambitions of becoming superhuman are far more interesting an ideal than travelling to the moon. Smartphones and laptops are more interesting than transportation. We may be the first generation who see frantic moving around as not all that important since the invention of the car. I think it's for the best. The On The Road era is over. Now its more Dharma Bums meets cyberpunk.

One could say that they were in a way one of the first proponents of technological transhumanism. And they were rather Nietzschean about it.

I like him because he didn't cater to the image of the austere sage people think a spiritual teacher, and especially an eastern one, should subscribe too. He was a reverse Cynic in that way, in the sense that he shocked people with his decadence.

That said, I suspect most of his followers are annoying hippies and his cult isn't all that interesting. I'd say just read his stuff and leave it at that.

Do you have experience in studying oriental spirituality? You could look into the sources Osho uses for his mishmash of ideas.

Dear /lit/,

There was or is a thread about how you envision your ideal society or political system. That's nice, but I'm more interested in your idea of the ideal person.

The Buddhists have their bodhisattva, the Stoics their Stoic sage, Nietzsche has his Übermensch, Christians have the saint, et cetera. What would the ideal person be according to your convictions? How would you describe him/her?
