I want to read the King James Bible, what should my reading order be? Do I need a study bible such as the Norton Critical Edition (to understand literary references)? Should I skip any sections? I am a Christian, but this reading will be through a literary lens. Also, please no discussion about what translation to buy. I’ve already decided on the KJV.

I don't understand why /lit/ shames people for reading translations and say that they are worthless when probably the most acclaimed piece of English literature is literally translation.

1. What are the best commentaries on the Bible? Preferably more philological or mystical
2.Are there any texts that treat the Bible as an encrypted geopolitical history?
