It would be an improvement over The Expanse. Imagine a Foundation adaptation with a Game of Thrones-tier budget--it would of necessity have to have a better mise-en-scene than Asimov's medium equivalent. As individual stories, Foundation is a bunch of pulp-tier garbage. A season per every couple of stories would give more room to flesh out the galaxy than Asimov had when he first wrote these stories. Although there is some worldbuilding early on, it is not until the later books that a mature Asimov begins to incorporate all the developments that took place in the wake of Foundation, eventually merging the Foundation series with his Robots series in the concluding volumes of the central quintet. These volumes also reveal the poverty of Asimov's style: he cannot handle interpersonal relationships at all, treating them as relationships between roles more than as relationships between characters. Nemesis, though not properly a Foundation story, also exemplifies this: there are flaws which Asimov never overcame.
TV overcame this in 1990 and again in 2017.
