"Philosophy" as we know it is a distinctly Grecocentric phenomenon and so it will disappear from the world stage together with the culture that produced it.

Let's get straight to the fucking heart of the matter here. How do we come across as high IQ to other people with preferably minimal effort? What steps can somebody immediately take to seem high IQ? And it has to be time efficient. Of course you could spend 1000 hours learning Latin and Ancient Greek but nobody here will do that. I have a few ideas.

High IQ brilliant types never ever talk about hard work or any of that. You work hard but only in secret. You downplay all hard work and pretend you do things last minute and without preparation.

A through knowledge of the Greeks and Romans, maybe only about 20 books are necessary to know more than almost anyone.

Never ever be the first to comment or bring up the topic of current events. Pretend you don't know what Game of thrones is or what Slytherin is, and so on. If politics is brought up, try to maintain a haughty and amused demeanour if mainstream topics or parties are talked about and a slightly more interested but still neutral tone if non mainstream stuff is talked about.

Why is it that University of Oxford considers philosophy to be so worthless as an undergraduate degree they only offer it as paired up with other stuff?

Why do Philosophy, Politics, and Economics graduates come across as so fucking vacuous when they did Philosophy?

How can you take your non Oxbridge humanities degree seriously when they have tutorials with world class people in small groups and 2 essays a week while other UK universities make you do 4 essays a term and with impersonal tutorials?

not sure why you're mocking that guy. It's not hard to understand. Reading more allows you to pick up the nuances of the written word, expands your vocabulary, and exercises conceptualization over time.

Writing allows you to put the former items into practice using your own voice.

For the love of it and because it has something to offer. You can get a job with an English major--much more easily if you are thinking about where you want to be once you're out of school; learning a side skill while you're in school makes it much easier.

You don't need to take up a vocational degree in order to land a decent job.

Don't be an anti-intellectual retard. We already have enough of those in the world.
