Your thinking is catastrophically bad. Yes, IQ 'in itself' is irrelevant. But as soon as you want to do something it becomes relevant. Jesus Christ. Definition of success isn't too relevant, whenever you use your brain to solve a problem you will get advantages from a higher IQ. So researchers are for example interested in how this relates to average incomes or lifespan and stuff like that. The averages for the broad population look like picrel then. You can understand that people might consider it relevant, right?
