I need help. My class is reading this book, and I'm having trouble with a few of the questions.
What is the significance of the boss' desk?
Is chapter 1 an attack on capitalism, why or why not?
What does the boss represent?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I started reading the Metamorphosis (currently just finished part II). Why the fuck was Gregor trying to dress himself after he realized he had transformed? Then the head clerk and his family are trying to convince him to open the door he's still trying to figure out how to get to work. It was making so irate I almost quit reading.

As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a monstrous vermin.

Huh. That's a pretty good synopsis, actually.
